Spring is Here—Time to Turn Up the Tropical Vibes
Spring is finally here, and if you’re anything like us, that means one thing: it’s time to shake off the winter blues and start planning your next great escape—whether that’s hopping on a plane or just bringing the tropics home.
So, what’s trending this season in travel, food, and cocktails? Let’s dive in.
Where’s Everyone Headed This Spring?
Tropical travel is always in, but this year, it’s all about going beyond the usual hotspots:
🏝️ Eco-Escapes Are Big – Travelers are looking for places that don’t just look good but do good. Think Costa Rica’s lush rainforests, Belize’s barrier reefs, or St. Lucia’s volcanic beaches. Bonus points for hotels and resorts that focus on sustainability.
🌊 Private Villas Over Crowded Resorts – If you’re looking for peace, privacy, and a personal chef making fresh ceviche while you sip your cocktail (dream life, right?), villa rentals in the Caribbean and Mexico are booming.
✈️ Skip the Crowds, Find the Hidden Gems – Forget the overpacked beach bars—this spring, travelers are heading to places like Holbox, Mexico, or the quiet corners of the Dominican Republic for that just-discovered feel.
Tropical Flavors Taking Over This Spring
Even if you’re not jetting off to a beach, you can still bring the tropics to your plate (and your glass). Here’s what’s trending in food and drinks:
🍍 Island Ingredients in Everything – Passionfruit, pineapple, coconut, and lime are showing up in everything from cocktails to marinades. If it tastes like it should be sipped in a hammock, it’s in.
🌶️ Ají Amarillo Is the Flavor of the Year – This fruity, slightly spicy yellow pepper from South America is popping up in sauces, ceviches, and even cocktails. If you see it on a menu, try it.
🍸 Tropical Cocktails Are Getting Fancy – Classic drinks like the piña colada and mojito are getting an upgrade with fresh, high-quality ingredients. No pre-made mixes, just real tropical goodness.
Make This at Home: The Tropic Spritz
Spring deserves a drink that’s light, refreshing, and 100% tropical. Here’s an easy one to mix up:
🌿 Tropic Spritz Recipe
- 2 oz Tropical Vibes Rum
- 1 oz fresh lime juice
- ½ oz honey syrup (equal parts honey + warm water)
- 2 oz sparkling water
- Fresh mint & a lime wheel for garnish
How to make it: Shake the rum, lime juice, and honey syrup with ice, strain into a glass, and top with sparkling water. Garnish with mint and a lime wheel. Then sit back, take a sip, and pretend you’re on vacation.
We’re Growing—Know Someone Who Should Join Us?
We’re looking for a smart, scrappy, creative intern to join the Tropical Vibes team this summer. Someone who thinks fast, comes up with fresh ideas, and isn’t afraid to roll up their sleeves. If you know a student who fits the bill, send them our way.
As always, thanks for being part of this journey with us. More exciting news (and drinks!) coming soon.
Cheers,
Team Tropical Vibes
